Croatian eleven-month foreign trade

Croatia's Central Bureau of Statistics reports that Croatia exported leather and leather products worth US$321 million in the first eleven months of 2008, a year-on-year increase of 2.8%.

Croatian imports of the same types of commodities in the January to October 2008 period were 7.8% higher year-on-year at US$436 million.

Stocks of finished products held by producers of leather and leather products in Croatia in November were 3.4% lower than in October and 5.6% higher than in November 2007.

The average gross monthly wage in Croatia's leather industry in the first ten months of 2008 was US$669, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%. In comparison, the average gross monthly wage in Croatia in the January to October 2008 period was US$1,388.

Albanian eleven-month foreign trade

Albania's National Statistics Institute reports that Albania imported leather and leather products worth US$69 million in the first eleven months of 2008, compared with imports worth US$78 million in the same period in 2007.

Albanian exports of the same types of commodities in the January to November period in 2008 were worth US$17 million, as against US$21 million in the same period in 2007.

 

Israeli eleven-month foreign trade

Israel's Central Statistics Bureau reports that Israel imported leather and leather products worth US$131 million in the first eleven months of 2008, compared with US$117 million in the same period in 2007.

Israeli exports of the same types of commodities in the January to November 2008 period were worth US$15.4 million, as against US$18.0 million in the corresponding period in 2007

South African production in November

Statistics South Africa reports that the production of leather and leather products in South Africa in November was 8.8% higher than in October and 11.2% lower than in November 2007.

In comparison, manufacturing output in South Africa in November was 4.4% lower year-on-year.

Slovak Republic eleven-month production

Slovakia's Statistical Office reports that the production of leather and leather products in Slovakia in the first eleven months of 2008 was 19.7% lower than in the same period in 2007.

In comparison, industrial output in Slovakia in the January to October period in 2008 was 3.% higher year-on-year.

Spanish production in November

Spain's National Statistics Institute reports that the production of leather and leather products in Spain in November 2008 was 17.1% lower than in the same month in 2007.

In comparison, industrial output in Spain in November 2008 was 17.2% lower year-on-year.

Turkish business delegation to Uzbekistan

A Turkish business delegation, including officials from leather industry companies, visited Uzbekistan for trade talks in late December, according to UzReport.

One of the aims of the delegation was to establish new business contacts with Uzbek companies.

Slovenian cattle slaughter

Slovenia's Statistics Office reports that the number of cattle slaughtered in slaughterhouses in Slovenia in October, at 11,303, was 3.4% higher than in September and 9.2% lower than in October 2007.

The weight of cattle slaughtered in October, at 3,121 tonnes, was 4% higher month-on-month and 9.8% lower year-on-year

Ukraine production and trade

Ukraine's State Statistics Committee reports that Ukraine exported leather and leather products worth US$325 million in the first ten months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 2.8%. Leather and leather products accounted for 0.5% of total Ukrainian exports during the period.

Ukrainian imports of the same types of commodities in the January to October period were 61.4% higher year-on-year at US$201 million. Leather and leather products accounted for 0.3% of total Ukrainian imports.

Ukraine's State Statistics Committee reports that the production of leather and leather products in Ukraine in the first eleven months of this year was 7.5% higher than in the same period in 2007. In comparison, industrial output in Ukraine in the January to November period this year was 0.7% lower year-on-year.

 

Vietnam waives VAT on livestock products

The Vietnamese government has issued a decree under which unprocessed livestock products will be subject to a zero rate of VAT, according to the Vietnamese News Agency. The decree becomes operative from January 1, 2009.

 

Macedonian eleven-month production

Macedonia's State Statistical Office has reported that the production of leather and leather products in Macedonia in the first eleven months of this year was 8.7% lower than in the same period in 2007.

In comparison, manufacturing output in Macedonia in the January to November period was 7.7% higher year-on-year.

The average gross monthly wage in the Macedonian leather industry in the first ten months of 2008 was US$274, an increase of 41.7% compared with the same period the previous year. In comparison, the average gross monthly wage in Macedonia's manufacturing industry in the January to October 2008 period was US$467.

 

Turkish eleven-month foreign trade

Turkey's State Statistics Institute reports that Turkey exported raw hides and skins, and leather, worth US$115 million in the first eleven months of 2008, compared with US$112 million in the same period in 2007.

Turkish imports of the same types of commodities in the January to November 2008 period were worth US$492 million, as against US$566 million in the corresponding period in 2007.
